Potential disaster as Sullivan confidant claims West Ham have made pathetic new contract offer

One West Ham United player has apparently just been offered a new contract from the club.

West Ham have a lot of work to do in the transfer market this summer, with numerous new players needed.

The poor future planning and inept squad building from David Moyes means that whoever is in charge at the London Stadium this summer will have a huge rebuild on his hands.

Up to 12 players could be set to leave West Ham at the end of the current season, so a big turnover of the playing staff is on the cards.

One of the players being heavily linked with an exit should have left us quite some time ago.

Amazingly though, he’s just been offered a new deal it seems…

New contract has just been offered to West Ham player

The Hammers owners need to learn when to move on from underperforming players, and stop being so sentimental when it comes to offering them new deals.

One of those players in particular has shouldn’t be anywhere near our squad right now, let alone the starting XI!

Yet, he’s reportedly been offered a new deal…

Sometimes our owners just don’t seem to learn do they.

According to Hammers insider Sean Whetstone, left-back Aaron Cresswell has been offered a 12-month contract extension.

Fortunately for us though, the 34-year-old is said to have rejected that new contract offer. His current deal is set to expire in the summer, and he needs to be let go.

Cresswell has made just 15 appearances in all competitions for the Hammers this season, with just eight of those being starts (Transfermarkt).

He is nowhere near the required standard to be playing Premier League football anymore, and if truth be told he should have left the club last summer.

Signing down Cresswell to a new contract would have been a disastrous move from West Ham, because it would have meant that we wouldn’t be signing a left-back this summer to compete with Emerson Palmieri.

Luckily enough though, that decision seems to be seems to have been taken out of the Hammers owners’ hands. Phew!
