Former LSU defensive back Ryan Yaites will transfer to play for the Cal Golden Bears in 2024, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reported Monday. He spent just one season in Baton Rouge and will have three years of eligibility remaining.

Yaites played 13 games this past season as a true freshman on both special teams and as a backup safety. He recorded 16 total tackles and one pass breakup.

As a recruit, Yates was four-star prospect coming out of Guyer High School in Denton, Texas. He ranked as the No. 276 overall player and No. 20 safety in the 2023 cycle according to the On3 Industry Ranking, a weighted average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.
