What Chelsea are now saying about Ruben Amorim internally after rumour circulating – journalist

Journalist Matt Law has now shared what Chelsea have seen saying after a recent rumour surfaced regarding the managerial role at the club.

Mauricio Pochettino is under immense pressure to deliver European football to the club in his first campaign in charge, with the games running out to do just this.

It has already been claimed that those in senior roles at the club are doing their due diligence over who should take over if he was to depart.

Chelsea reportedly make contact for Amorim

It was reported earlier today that they had been in contact with Sporting Lisbon boss Ruben Amorim about him potentially taking over as their new manager.

The 39-year-old has been mentioned as a potential candidate to take over through most of the season, however has also been linked to numerous other top jobs that are going to come up at the end of the season.

The club have now reportedly responded to the rumours linking them with Amorim, with Law stating on Twitter that they have gone out of their way to deny any truth in those reports.

Chelsea deny any Amorim meeting

He said: “Chelsea absolutely adamant that the club did not pay for a flight for Ruben Amorim to visit London last week and did not hold any meetings or talks with him.”

It is likely the club are going to look Pochettino to the end now, with the plethora of injuries that are currently occurring at Stamford Bridge proving a real issue.

Axel Disasi was the only senior player named on the bench for their last game against Aston Villa, although they were able to rescue a point from a 2-2 draw.

The second half was a real boost for Chelsea supporters who have been desperate for the players to show a bit of fight in the latter stages of the season, and they will be looking for more of the same in the huge game against Tottenham on Thursday.
