'When you talk to them': Henry Winter makes interesting claim about Man City duo Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb

Rico Lewis and Oscar Bobb are two top Manchester City youngsters with very bright futures ahead of them – and respected journalist Henry Winter has today made an interesting claim about the duo.

City have a plethora of world-class players on the books at the Etihad, but also some extremely bright young talents hoping to reach that same level in the years to come.

Lewis and Bobb are arguably the two best prospects at the club right now, with both making contributions to the first-team this season.

Lewis made his debut last term, and has gone on to make 49 appearances for the club in total.

Bobb was promoted to the first-team ahead of this season on the recommendation of Txiki Begiristain and has made 25 appearances.

Pep Guardiola feels both are special talents and could become amazing players in the future.

But becoming a top player is not just about having talent alone, it’s about mentality too and today, journalist Henry Winter has made some interesting remarks…

Lewis and Bobb are both still in the infancy of their careers.

Lewis is still only 19 and Bobb 20, and it’s exciting to think about where they could be in only a few years time, let alone when they reach their peaks in about 10.

Journalist Henry Winter sat down with City to talk about manager Pep Guardiola and what he has achieved in English football so far.

While talking about Pep’s achievements, he touched on the Spaniard’s willingness to give youth a chance. Winter then suggested that both Lewis and Bobb are actually extremely mature in how they come across, despite their tender years.

He said (via mancity.com): “You look at players like Oscar Bobb and Rico Lewis and when you talk to them, they are like 28-year-olds.

“They are remarkable individuals and that’s a huge credit to the club and the Academy, but Pep does give them a chance.

“And when they step into the team such as the likes of Rico Lewis, who comes in at right back, then he immediately steps into midfield and looks exactly like he knows what he’s doing and he’s already played for England.”

Lewis and Bobb are going to the top

It is difficult to see how Lewis and Bobb will not both become top footballers later in their careers.

Everything is in place for them to succeed and clearly, they are already demonstrating impressive levels of maturity for Winter to say what he’s said.

You do get that sense when you read or hear interviews from them.

Lewis has done several interviews where has spoken exactly like any of the more experienced players in the City squad. He is always very professional and keen to send defiant messages.

It just shows that things are being drummed into them from an early age, and that can only serve them well later down the line. If they are coming across like 28-year-old’s now, just imagine what they’ll both be like when they actually turn that age
