New Gers kit leak mystery demands answer of design puzzle

Every football fan has a favourite strip for the team that they support and Rangers fans will be no different.

The iconic Nike strips that saw 9-in-a-row achieved or the retro Umbro kits of the Graeme Souness revolution.

With the home kit for 2024/25 leaked already, next up has been images of what could be the new Rangers away strip.

Away strip leak sees Rangers fans get familiar offering

There are only so many new designs that a club that is over 150 years old can incorporate into their kits.

Castore, who have recently produced record revenue for their deal with Rangers, have been no strangers to paying homage to the past.

Colours like lilac as well as the amber and navy combination have obvious ancestors but it is the home strips that have traditionally been a nod to the past.

The 150th anniversary home strip was a modern twist on a 60s and 70s classic, whilst we have seen patterns reminiscent of kits from the 80s too.

The recently leaked home strip looks similar to that of 2005/06 which saw the end of Alex McLeish’s tenure as manager.

New kit sees a reminder of season fans will want to forget

If that was a bad season, this kit is a nod to a year that no Rangers fan will want to be reminded of – 2012/13.

The first year of the ‘journey’ started in the most auspicious of circumstances with a 2-2 draw at Peterhead, not exactly the walkover that many predicted it would be.

There is something different to this strip though, it isn’t just a plain white, with a blue collar.

In the backgroud it looks like a series of random lines and patterns and despite claims that it is a street map of Govan, nobody seems to recognise the streets.

Like the home strip of 2021/22, this one is also similar to away shirts of the 70s and 80s.

It’s the last year of the Castore contract and Rangers are in a good position to renegotiate given the volume of sales and the exposure that they gave the fledgling sportswear company.

Money is always the driving force in this type of situation though and with Rangers a prominent name in Europe once again, rather than a laughing stock, James Bisgrove won’t be short of offers to weigh up.

This could be Castore’s last season with Rangers and it looks like they are doing all they can to enamour themselves with the support.
