'He was outstanding': Kelvin Wilson wowed by 'brilliant' Nottingham Forest 33-year-old

Kelvin Wilson has heaped praise on one Nottingham Forest player after a 2-0 defeat to Manchester City at the weekend.

Forest fought tooth and nail to try and get something from the game against the champions and arguably the best team in the world.

It wasn’t to be from a Forest perspective and they remain embroiled in relegation trouble.

With just three games remaining the Reds are sitting just a point outside the relegation zone having been deducted four points.

There were some positives from the game against City, however, with Wilson picking one player out for praise.

Kelvin Wilson raves about Nottingham Forest star Willy Boly

There was a surprise name on the Forest team sheet at the weekend as Willy Boly returned to the starting eleven.

His presence is always felt and he typically wins a lot of aerial challenges and is strong in the tackle.

Boly appeared to pick up a knock towards the end of the game on Sunday and hopefully, he can shake that off to play on Saturday.

Wilson was very impressed with the experienced central defender and he has now praised him for his performance.

He told theForest Focus podcast: “Willy Boly, I thought he was outstanding. He was sold as a rock and I really did think he was brilliant.”

Forest fans praying Boly can stay fit for three more games

Had the 33-year-old been fit for more of the current campaign, it’s hard to imagine Forest would still be in trouble.

The Ivory Coast star is a top-class defender and his presence in the back four doesn’t go unnoticed when he plays.

Boly has seen it all before and hopefully, he can stay fit for three more games and Forest can assess the situation from there.

Naturally, a player of his quality should be in line for a new contract but his injury record has hardly been impressive during 2023/24.

First and foremost Forest have to secure their Premier League survival and then talks can begin between the relevant parties over a new deal.

One thing that could work in the centre-back’s favour is that Forest might choose to show a more meticulous approach to transfers in the summer.

With that in mind, Boly could be a useful option at the back and it could stop Forest needed to sign another central defender for next season.
