Journalist now tips £30m Arsenal target to join Liverpool this summer, amid reports

One Arsenal target has now been tipped to join Liverpool this summer.

All eyes will be on the Gunners and the Reds this summer as they embark on differing challenges in the transfer window.

Mikel Arteta will be tasked with bridging the gap on Manchester City and finding more bargains such as Martin Odegaard in the market, whereas Liverpool must appease Arne Slot and prepare for life after one of the greatest managers ever seen at Anfield in Jurgen Klopp.

Ahead of what is expected to be an eventful summer transfer window, one player has now been backed to join Liverpool instead of Arsenal

The Netherlands international can play as a central defender – and also on the right or left of the backline – with his immense versatility unsurprisingly attracting the attention of Arteta.

However, Arsenal could miss out on Geertruida to Liverpool, with Dutch journalist Marcel van der Kraan now tipping the man from Rotterdam to follow Slot to Anfield.

He told De Telegraaf: “I think the chance that Geertruida will go there (Liverpool) is greater than 50%.

“He is on the radar and has done fantastic in the Dutch national team and in the Champions League, he is a boy who physically fits the Premier League, best of all Feyenoord players.”

It comes after De Telegraaf also reported that Geertruida would actually love to join Liverpool, and even attended Saturday’s 2-2 draw against West Ham.

How much the Dutchman could cost

Van der Kraan also revealed a potential price tag for Geertruida – who only has just over 12 months remaining on his contract at Feyenoord.

The journalist added: “I have no doubts about Geertruida, I have seen him play so much. At least £30m (when asked for a potential transfer fee).

“Feyenoord could sell him last year for £25m but the club did not do that. He now has another year of contract (gone). I think there is a significant amount of money (that) has to be put on the table.”

Liverpool could certainly do with another defender – as Joel Matip is expected to depart Anfield this summer – so be sure to keep an eye on this situation, as anything could happen this summer.
