'An incredible player': Pundit says Arsenal have finally got themselves their 'missing piece'

Arsenal have been on a steady upward trajectory since Mikel Arteta took the Gunners reins back in 2019.

When Arteta became Arsenal‘s new manager, the club was languishing in mid-table in the Premier League.

It took a while for him to clean house and get the Gunners back to the levels they were at under Arsene Wenger, but they’ve got there.

Last season, Arsenal came close to winning the Premier League title, and they remain firmly in contention this term.

In addition, the Gunners marked their return to the Champions League with a run to the quarter-finals of the competition.

Arsenal’s stand-out signing last season was Declan Rice, who joined from West Ham in a deal reportedly worth £105million.

The England international has been so good since joining the Gunners that he’s almost making his high transfer fee a bargain.

Now, ESPN pundit Janusz Michallik has described Rice as “that missing piece” for Arsenal, and has lauded the qualities he brings to the team.

What has Janusz Michallik said in detail about Arsenal midfielder Declan Rice?

“Declan Rice was that missing piece,” Michallik told ESPN. “We know how wonderful he was.

“For me, an incredible player, incredible player that has changed this team obviously in the centre of the pitch.

“His character, ability to play on both sides of the ball, ability to deliver set pieces, deliveries, scores a goal here and there.”

When a player moves for big money, as was the case with Rice to Arsenal, it doesn’t take long for critics to get on his case if he doesn’t hit the ground running and makes an immediate impact.

However, you’ll struggle to find many who don’t think Rice has been worth the £105million fee, while many Gunners fans actively feel they’re got themselves a bargain.

Rice has certainly helped Arsenal go up to the next level, and it’ll be exciting to see how Arteta and Edu continue to develop the squad in the upcoming transfer window.
