Chelsea fans are all saying the same thing after watching Antonio Rudiger in the Champions League

Chelsea supporters witnessed a number of former figures in action in the Champions League last night.

Bayern Munich and Real Madrid played out an entertaining 2-2 draw in the first leg of the semi-finals last night.

Thomas Tuchel was in charge of the hosts, with Chelsea fans more than aware of his capabilities in the competition after winning it with the Blues back in 2021.

Another figure who left the club with a high stock as far as supporters at Stamford Bridge are concerned is Antonio Rudiger, who started in defence for Madrid last night.

The German was absolutely imperious on Chelsea’s road to winning the whole thing, and has continued where he left off for his new side.

Chelsea fans impressed by Antonio Rudiger

Supporters were pretty unanimous in their praise for Rudiger after last night’s display, after Madrid were under the cosh for large periods of the first half in particular.

One user said: “Chelsea have yet to recover from losing both Rudiger and Christensen for free in the same summer. Just brutal business.”

Another added: “The worst part is each side has at least one player from Chelsea, Rudiger and Musiala. And they are both Superb.”

Another said: “Chelsea made a huge mistake letting Rudiger leave. His such a great player and a proper CB. I’m happy his enjoying life and doing better at Real Madrid but it should’ve been Chelsea.”

A fourth claimed: “How did Chelsea allow Rudiger to leave for free to go and buy Fofana.”

Finally, one stated: “When he was at Chelsea I always maintained that Antonio Rudiger was only good because he was playing in a back 3. But ever since he went to Madrid I’ve had to change my stance. The man is truly elite. For me he’s currently the best CB in the game. Respect him!”

Thiago Silva announces Chelsea exit

One of Rudiger’s former teammates at Stamford Bridge announced that he will be leaving in the coming weeks after a four year spell at the club.

Thiago Silva’s emotional goodbye did at least leave the impression that he may be keen to return to the club when his playing days are over.

The duo featured together from the start in the Champions League final three years ago, however a heartbreaking injury saw the Brazilian forced off in the first half.
