'I certainly don't see': Former Man City captain makes emphatic FA Cup final prediction v 'strange' Man United

Manchester City will play against Manchester United in the FA Cup final for the second year running at the end of this month – and former captain Andy Morrison has made an emphatic score prediction.

City beat their bitter rivals 2-1 in the final last season at Wembley, making it two trophies out of two and setting the club up nicely for the Champions League final with Inter.

Ilkay Gundogan scored the quickest-ever FA Cup final goal inside just 13 seconds, with some fans having not even taken their seats.

Bruno Fernandes hit back from the penalty spot after a very questionable handball in the area by Jack Grealish.

But Gundogan popped up in the second-half to score his second, and City saw the game out to win the FA Cup for a seventh time.

United will want revenge for last year, but former City captain Andy Morrison doesn’t think that’ll be on the cards, and actually believes an embarrassment awaits them at Wembley this time around…

You never quite know what you are going to get with Manchester United.

Under Erik ten Hag, it is very hard to know how they are going to play. They are very capable of turning in an awful performance, but still have big threats and have the potential to cause problems.

City are the heavy favourites ahead of the game, and certainly, if City head in as Premier League champions, confidence will be very high.

But even if City lose out to Arsenal in the title race, motivation will be sky-high to beat United in a cup final, and hopefully we will witness a convincing performance down in London.

Andy Morrison believes that will happen, and reckons City will put United to the sword and win the game 5-1. He said in City’s digital magazine for May: “Another Manchester derby – who could have predicted that? United have been strange this season, capable of being dangerous while also being incredibly open.

“I can’t see them changing their style for this game. But given the way they capitulated against Coventry, I certainly don’t see them being able to stop us and if that’s the case, we could win this easily.”

City can embarrass United, but it’s a one-off game

City fans would very much like to hope City will thrash United at Wembley, and Pep’s side are more than capable of doing that.

But it will be very important not to underestimate the Red Devils, as erratic as they are. Ultimately, they’ve got some players who can pull something out of the bag at any time, and some caution will be required.

It’s a one-off game, and United will have last year’s result as their motivation.

But City have far more quality in their side and should have more than enough to make light work of ten Hag’s team. Very possibly, given his future is reportedly in doubt, City stand to put the final nail in his coffin as United manager.
