‘Poor decision’: Simon Jordan slams Farhad Moshiri for terrible Everton appointment he made four years ago

Everton have made a slew of awful decisions over the last seven or so years, resulting in their current financial predicament.

They only really have themselves to blame, although for the Evertonians, they are being punished more than anyone for the misconduct of others.

Atop of that list of crooks is Farhad Moshiri, as the chief instigator of this regression.

The number of transgressions he has committed whilst overseeing the Toffees is innumerable, and now one pundit has sought to lambast him again.

Simon Jordan slams Carlo Ancelotti appointment

Speaking live on talkSPORT (01/05, 10:40 am) earlier this morning, Simon Jordan has once again taken aim at the Everton ownership.

However, this time he did so in a very roundabout way, using their review of last night’s Champions League action to link back to Moshiri’s misdeeds.

Unsurprisingly, much of the conversation swirled around Carlo Ancelotti, with the Italian on track to lead his Real Madrid side to yet another Champions League title.

And whilst Jordan was supremely complimentary, he did note his spell at Goodison Park as a blemish on his record: ‘I wasn’t enamoured with his performance at Everton. I know there was some clearly better performances than recent times, but I never felt like that was a fit. I said it at the time that I don’t think he’ll be there very long and I think it was a poor decision for Everton bringing him in.

‘And some will say ‘Well hold on a minute, if you can get Ancelotti you get him,’ but it’s about what Ancelotti does whilst he’s there and what he leaves after he’s gone.

‘There was a few times at Everton where he was quite strident and a bit more vociferous than I had recalled him being. I think that was more to do with certain players’ performances and his expectations of the team.

‘I recall him a couple of times he being quite angst-ridden, for want of a better expression, because maybe he hadn’t been used to managing the sort of quality he was being asked to manage at Everton.’

Everton were lucky to have Carlo Ancelotti in charge

Even if his stint on Merseyside was brief and ultimately damaging to the club’s finances, it was certainly a good time for Evertonians.

After all, not only did they get to witness one of football’s greatest-ever managers take to the Goodison Park dugout, but with him he brought James Rodriguez, a true world-class technician who bemused the world with this inexplicable transfer.

Ancelotti’s pulling power was insane, and the football played at times remarkable.

To this day, some of the performances he coaxed out of this threadbare Everton side beggars belief, with Michael Keane, Dominic Calvert-Lewin, Gylfi Sigurdsson and more all enjoying their best spells in royal blue under his leadership.

It did always have an expiry date, as even Duncan Ferguson eluded to, but had he not left, who knows where they might have gone in the coming seasons?

But, with hindsight as an ally, Jordan is right about this being another of Moshiri’s impulsive acquisitions, made just four years ago, that further condemned the club.
