'No doubt...': Bannan discusses Danny Rohl future at Sheffield Wednesday with clear message to Chansiri

Barry Bannan has discussed manager Danny Rohl and his Sheffield Wednesday future.

Bannan and his Sheffield Wednesday team go into their final day showdown against Sunderland on Saturday, needing just a point to confirm their safety.

They play against a Sunderland side who’ve endured a fairly torrid season, currently sitting in 15th place of the table and with just two wins from their previous 14 Championship fixtures.

Rohl has worked wonders in S6 this season.

He and his players have amassed 50 points now despite going winless in the first 13 games of the season, moving out of the bottom three after back-to-back wins, with the last being a 3-0 win against West Brom.

But the future of Rohl at Hillsborough remains unclear.

Rohl was reportedly the subject of Championship interest earlier in the season.

Soon after, it was revealed that Sunderland were one of the teams keen on Rohl, reportedly adding him to their shortlist ahead of the summer.

No other team has been specifically mentioned.

And Rohl is under contract until the end of next season, it has been claimed, though there’s no official confirmation of this.

And speaking to The Star about Rohl and what the summer ahead might hold for the 34-year-old German coach, club captain Bannan said:

“He’s a top manager and everybody is starting to notice that now. He’s just starting out in his adventure so he’s only going to get better, from experience you get better as you get older and you learn from different things. No doubt he’ll look at times this season where maybe he’s gone wrong and you’ve got to learn from that. He’ll be even better next season.

“Look, he’s a top, top manager and if he gets what he wants in the summer and gets his way then the sky is the limit. We need to get the job done and then I think you’ll see us up there towards the top of the league fighting for promotion.”

The changes Dejphon Chansiri needs to make this summer

Once again, the ball is clearly in Dejphon Chansiri‘s court with regards to Rohl.

It’s seemed clear for some time now that Rohl would be happy to stay at the club, but like Bannan says, he’s a top coach, and he could arguably get a much better job elsewhere in the summer.

But Rohl seems loyal to Sheffield Wednesday.

He hinted earlier in the year about wanting improvements to the changing rooms and other facilities, so Chansiri seemingly knows what he needs to do.

And expect Chansiri and Rohl to have a few meetings this summer to discuss the next steps.

Hopefully, it won’t end how Chansiri and Darren Moore’s meeting ended last summer; the exit of Moore and the subsequent, disaster appointment of Xisco Munoz.

First up though is a trip to Sunderland with Sheffield Wednesday needing a point to confirm their safety, or needing Birmingham City to either draw or lose against Norwich City.
