Simon Jordan says Liverpool would never appoint 50-year-old as their manager ahead of Arne Slot’s arrival

When Jurgen Klopp first announced he was going to leave Liverpool, it left many shocked and saddened.

But talk quickly turned to who was going to replace the legendary figure at Anfield.

In next to no time, Xabi Alonso, who has now won the Bundesliga title with Bayer Leverkusen, was being tipped to take to the Liverpool dugout and perceived to be one of the favourites.

But that was quickly shutdown, before fans began to question, who in world football actually has the minerals to replace Klopp and also deal with the heat of the Anfield kitchen?!

The issue across European football today is that it isn’t blessed with a trophy-winning coach after trophy-winning coach.

Yes, they are about. Carlo Ancelotti at Real Madrid or the marmite-like figure, Jose Mourinho.

These individuals are either in a high-profile job already, so you simply aren’t going to get them out or they are deemed to be past their peak.

One man who has won the biggest trophy of them all – The UEFA Champions League – is former Chelsea and PSG boss, Thomas Tuchel.

The German is currently manager of Bayern Munich, who are in the semi-finals of Europe’s elite competition, but he will depart at the end of the campaign after losing out on the title to Leverkusen.

Given that he will be a free agent in the summer, Simon Jordan was sure to fire shots at the 50-year-old and explain that another elite job won’t come his way again, including Liverpool, as he told talkSPORT.

The former Crystal Palace owner stated ‘I don’t think there is ever a parallel universe where Liverpool would take Thomas Tuchel as their manager’ because of his ‘decisive’ character.

Thomas Tuchel as Liverpool manager

“There is no doubt that in a cup competition, that features the elite clubs, he does well,” said Jordan. “He didn’t do well at PSG. He did well at Chelsea. And he has done well with Bayern Munich in a cup competition.

“I would suggest that if he were perhaps a more palatable individual to deal with, then you wouldn’t find him being jettisoned from big football clubs that find themselves in a situation where they have got their fanbase, like Chelsea, going ‘why would you get rid of him?’ Oh, I don’t know because we didn’t like him.

“When you say a big job. I don’t think there is ever a parallel universe where Liverpool would take Thomas Tuchel as their manager. Absolutely not. I don’t think Manchester United would take him. I don’t think Manchester City would take him. I don’t think Arsenal would take him. I don’t think Real Madrid would take him because they look at the reality of what Tuchel can and can’t do. I think he divides. I think he doesn’t create unity.”

Thomas Tuchel or Arne Slot?

Was someone like Arne Slot on the top of Liverpool fans’ list when Klopp announced that he was leaving?Probably not.

But it would be interesting to know who supporters would pick from if they had a choice between the two – Slot or Tuchel.

The latter has the CV. He is also proven in English football and you know, just like his fellow countryman, he can handle the media.

But it seems as though he can rattle a few cages, and unfortunately, that is deemed too much of a negative in this world, even if he is delivering the trophies.
