Kate Middleton proves Prince Harry's 'belittling comment' wrong - 'Sneaky'

When Prince Harry and Meghan left the royal family in 2020, they didn’t hold back on their thoughts and comments. From Harry’s memoir Spare, to their joint Netflix documentary, the couple ‘spilled all’ about the institution. However, Kate Middleton has proved one ‘belittling comment’ wrong with her recent actions, a commentator says.

During their Netflix documentary, Prince Harry told the cameras that there was “temptation or an urge” for men to marry someone who will fit the mold, as opposed to someone you are destined to be with.” This week, Prince William and Kate Middleton celebrated their 13th anniversary, and the Princess is putting herself and her family before the institution.

Kate Middleton is a ‘surprise package’

Despite Harry’s comments about ‘fitting the mold,’ Kate Middleton has proved time and time again that she’s stepped away from this ‘stereotypical Princess duty’, a commentator says. Although she and William do undergo the ‘stereotypical’ duties, there are many things Kate has bought into the royal life, that wouldn’t have been done before.

“The difference between making decisions with your head or your heart. And my mum certainly made most of her decisions, if not all of them, from her heart. And I am my mother’s son,” he wrote in his memoir Spare.

“Famed Australian essayist Charmian Clift talked about her work representing ‘sneaky little revolutions’ and I think that phrase perfectly sums up the Princess of Wales’ approach to her royal life,” Daniela Elser wrote in a piece for NewsAU.

The expert writes about how Middleton hasn’t made an official appearance in four months, besides releasing the video announcing she has cancer.

“The royal diktat goes duty first. Health, relationships, personal well-being, sanity, and parenting are all meant to come second to the grinding, onerous drumbeat of royal work,” Elser writes. However, this year Kate is putting family first, as she asked for privacy while she, Wills and her children navigate her illness.

The Princess’ children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis, attend a co-ed day school, Elser notes, whereas Harry and William attended an all-boys school by George’s age.

She also notes that one of the reasons Kate and the family “moved to Windsor’s Adelaide Cottage was so that Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis would not grow up cosseted by the privilege and luxury of Kensington Palace and got used to having their fish fingers served via silver salver.”

Although the mom of three has stuck to the ‘traditional ways’ in some aspects, she’s ‘made her own mold,’ so to speak, to move with the modern-day times.

“Harry might have seemingly obliquely disparaged both Kate and William with his “mold” line but I think we can say that the Princess of Wales has defied this particularly belittling label,” Elser concludes. “Viva la sneaky little revolutions.”

Although Harry and William haven’t been on speaking terms for a while, one insider tells US Weekly that they “are open” to seeing each other after years of tension. However, it’s said that after Kate’s health update, the “ice seems to be melting” between both couples.

“Kate is willing to talk to Harry while he’s in town,” the source tells the publication, adding that the princess is “done with all the bad blood.”

They want a relationship with Meghan and Harry, and they don’t want the acrimony to carry over to the next generation,” the insider says, adding that they want their three children to have a relationship with Archie and Lilibet. Harry and Meghan also feel the same way, the source claims.

Harry will be visiting the UK to attend a service of Thanksgiving for the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games on May 8. However, it’s been confirmed the Duchess will not be joining her husband.
