Princess Charlotte turns nine today, and to celebrate, Prince William and Kate Middleton have shared a new photo of their daughter, who looks just like her dad!
Every year for their children’s birthdays, Prince William and Kate Middleton release a new, never-before-seen photo, although the tradition was up in the air this year. After a tough start to the year, with the ‘photoshop fiasco’ and the Princess’ cancer diagnosis. However, a new photo of Prince Louis was released for his birthday less than two weeks ago, and the tradition has continued for Princess Charlotte.
Kate Middleton releases new photo for Princess Charlotte’s ninth birthday
The Prince and Princess of Wales released the new photo to celebrate their daughter’s ninth birthday on their Instagram and X, formerly known as Twitter account, to thank fans for the messages.
In the adorable photo, Charlotte can be seen smiling and posing for the camera as she leans on a bush filled with pretty pink flowers. Her long brunette hair with blonde streaks sits in effortless waves, as she wears a red cardigan with a denim skirt.
“Happy 9th Birthday, Princess Charlotte!” the caption reads. Thank you for all of the kind messages today.”
A camera emoji is then added, with the words: “The Princess of Wales” next to it, noting it was Kate herself who took the pic.
Fans have taken to social media to share their birthday wishes for the young Princess, and many can’t believe how much she looks like her father.
“William said copy and paste,” joked one.
Another wrote: “She’s growing up so fast, and isn’t she the image of her father. Happy birthday li’l one. Another lovely photograph by The Princess of Wales.”
“Oh my goodness, how beautifully she has grown! She has her daddy’s eyes and her mum’s beautiful smile! Happiest birthday, sweet Princess Charlotte,” penned a third.
“Happy Birthday! She looks so much like her dad!” another agreed.
King Charles was ‘thrilled’ when Princess Charlotte was born
May 2015 marked the birth of the first granddaughter of King Charles, who was then the Prince of Wales. He now has a second granddaughter, Princess Lilbet, although it’s thought he’s only ever met her once, at Queen Elizabeth II‘s Platinum Jubilee Celebrations.
Just a few days after she was born, the then-Prince said at a public appearance, that he’d really been hoping for a girl.
“I am thrilled. I was hoping for a granddaughter – someone to look after me when I am very old,” he joked.
King Charles is currently undergoing cancer treatment, like Kate Middleton. Recently, he was seen undertaking royal duties, looking in good spirits.
