Arsenal could bid for Marcus Thuram
Well – according to Inter Live – Arsenal would ideally like to sign Bologna No.9 Joshua Zirkzee this summer.
However, the Italian news outlet mention that Arsenal will turn attentions towards Inter Milan No.9 Marcus Thuram if a move for the Dutchman fails to materialise.
Inter Live explain that the Gunners are thinking about submitting a €30m (£26m) bid for the France international after he fired Inter Milan to the Serie A title this season.
Thuram has enjoyed an exceptional 2023/23 campaign with the Nerazzurri following a free transfer switch from Borussia Monchengladbach back in July 2023.
The Frenchman has scored 14 goals while also providing 13 assists in 43 appearances across all competitions this season, cementing himself as one of the most effective forwards in Europe.
Arsenal’s interest comes after le10sport claimed back in 2019 that Emery wanted to sign Thuram, when the 26-year-old was still playing for Guingamp.
Thierry Henry 2.0
For the Arsenal fans who know little about Thuram, a comparison to a household name may help.
Incidentally, the Parma-born striker has been compared to none other than Thierry Henry by Arsene Wenger of all people.
The 74-year-old once told Der Spiegel: “Thierry Henry had the timing of the smartest footballers. He was also very strong physically, and technically he could do everything.
“In fact, there’s a player in the Bundesliga who reminds me of him – Marcus Thuram from Borussia Monchengladbach.”
