Wolves hailed for announcing ‘excellent’ news to the joy of the Molineux faithful

Wolves fans around the globe have reacted to the very promising transfer news that has now been confirmed by the club.

Wolves fans have had little to shout about recently. Barring a 2-1 victory over Luton last weekend, Gary O’Neil’s side has majorly struggled to maintain their form.

This has caused the 2023/24 campaign to peter out, with many of the Molineux faithful eyeing the upcoming season.

As a result, transfers have been a massive talking point as the summer approaches. Wolves’ first-team squad clearly needs reinforcements. The injury crisis they have found themselves in throughout 2024 has been a major reason for their end-of-season drop-off.

However, it now seems like reinforcements are already being confirmed as the club announced the permanent transfer of Tommy Doyle on Friday morning.

Doyle has been on loan to Wolves throughout the 2023/24 season. The midfielder joined from Man City as Matheus Nunes went the other way in a record-breaking deal.

Since taking up the Old Gold shirt, Doyle has largely impressed and now this has been rewarded by Wolves activating his option-to-buy clause.

O’Neil’s side are set to bring the midfielder in for £4.3 million, with Doyle signing a contract until 2028 with the option of two extra years.

As a result of the news, Wolves fans took to Twitter, formerly X to express their delight.

Some even suggested that Doyle could be a future Wolves captain and an England international based on his recent performances.

With this summer set to be a massive for the club’s immediate future, Wolves have got off to the best possible start.

The purchase of Doyle for less than £5 million is an astute bit of business. The midfielder clearly has plenty of potential and is now a Premier League regular at just 22 years old.

Now, Wolves need to ensure that this is a sign of things to come ahead of the transfer window.

Both a striker and defender are also needed on top of extra depth for the squad. If they manage to pull off this feat, Europe might not be too far away next season.
