Good news for XDefiant fans! Ubisoft has finally shared an update regarding the release date after multiple delays.
Throughout 2023, XDefiant faced several delays, but Ubisoft’s transparency and the developers’ commitment to consistent updates kept fans engaged. Now, the developer has come up with an exciting update about XDefiant release date and future plans.
XDefiant release date
Ubisoft has confirmed that XDefiant preseason will launch on May 21st on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. Preseason will kick start on May 21st, 2024 at 10 AM PT/1 PM ET.
That’s not all. The developer has shared a detailed plan for the preseason and first year of the game’s release. According to the elaborate blogpost, XDefiant will have 5 playable factions, 14 maps, and 5 different game modes in the preseason. All of this, and a ranked mode practice playlist will be available in the preseason, allowing players to dust off their skills in 4v4 competitive matches.
The phase will run or 6 weeks, after which the game will enter a seasonal cadence where the community can expect new weapons, maps, events, and a new faction after every 3 months.
This means that in total year 1 will include an additional:
- 4 factions
- 12 weapons
- 12 maps
This is quite exciting for fans who were convinced that Ubisoft has put XDefiant on the backburner for good. But, it turns out the game, which was meant to compete with Call of Duty and other popular franchises, is only a few weeks away now.
Is XDefiant free to play?
Yes. XDefiant will be free to play. However, the game may have in-game microtransactions in the form of skins and upgrades.
Does XDefiant have crossplay?
Yes. XDefiant will have crossplay enabled. This means players on different platforms can team up with each other. For example, PC players can compete with and against those on consoles and PlayStation.
