Transfer journo drops £6m Gers transfer claim with Clement tipped to tie up deal

Last summer saw Rangers lose players like Fashion Sakala, Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent and Antonio Colak, only to be replace by a rag-tag collection of misfits.

The forwards who came into Michael Beale’s squad had all been good players at one point in their careers but arrived at Ibrox struggling for form.

One player who almost immediately hit the ground running and made an impact was Abdallah Sima, with Rangers hopes of sealing a permanent deal given some words of encouragement.

Abdallah Sima deal swinging in Rangers favour

Loan deals tend to be more miss than hit, however, there was an instant bond between the player and fans.

The 22-year old has the sort of work rate that is needed to be a success and he has proven that wide players should be scoring goals in those positions for Rangers – there shouldn’t be any more excuses.

Having spent three seasons out on loan from Brighton and with one year left on his contract with the Premier League outfit, it doesn’t look like the south coast is where his future lies.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, journalist Dean Jones has made an encouraging claim:

“Rangers would be getting an unbelievable deal if they signed Sima for £6m.

“He’s been a good fit for them and I would expect a player with his qualities to be up towards £20million.

“A few other Premier League clubs have had an eye on him in the past couple of years, I think he’s a great watch.

“But optimism does seem to be there that Rangers are going to tie this one up at a fee that is absolutely from the bargain basement.”

Only one hurdle for Rangers in potential Sima transfer

Sima has never hidden his affinity for Rangers and Philippe Clement is clearly a fan too.

Normally, loan players are more diplomatic when asked where they see their futures, however, Sima seems to know exactly what he wants to do:

“To be honest, I am really happy to be in Glasgow right now and wearing this special shirt for me. It is a team that I really like.

“I said in my first interview it was a club I really like.

“They have everything for me to be happy.

“I am happy to be here and I hope we are going to find some things from here.

“I am happy to be here and to be helping the team now.”

Footballers tend to be happy when they are in form and playing well, and Sima, after struggling for the last two seasons, has found somewhere that allows him to play his best football.

The drop off in quality when he isn’t available is almost painful.

Abdallah Sima, even at £6m, still has the potential to make Rangers money.

With 16 goals in 38 appearances, there is every chance that he could have scored close to 25 had he not missed over three months of the season.

The fee seems to be the only stumbling block to any potential move and it would be a transfer that would immediately set fans at ease ahead of what could be a busy summer.
