Milwaukee Bucks star Patrick Beverley was not in a very gracious mood following his team’s exit from the NBA playoffs on Thursday night. After a bench incident saw the former Laker throw a basketball at a Pacers fan in the stands, Beverley then denied a female reporter access to his post-game locker room interview. The reason? Not subscribing to his podcast – The Pat Bev Podcast.
The Bucks point guard began taking questions but abruptly stopped to ask ESPN producer Malinda Adams if he subscribed to his podcast. She responded in the negative while noting that her coworker does subscribe. Despite that answer, Beverley went on to ask Adams if she would step out of the media scrum around his locker. The ESPN producer then left the scrum, leaving the other reporters to gather quotes without her.
It’s no wonder Beverley why was frustrated on Thursday night. His stats tell the story. He only had six points, two rebounds, and five assists.
ESPN’s Randy Scott took to social media to share his thoughts on the incident after the game: “When he wasn’t hitting a female fan in the head with a basketball, Or scoring 6pts in 40mins on 3 for 11 shooting, @patbev21 pulled (clown) nonsense on a veteran producer just doing her job. Asking PatBev to be better is a waste of time. Just don’t be this”
This year, Beverley averaged 6.2 points, 3.3 rebounds, and 2.9 assists. He’s spent a lot of time in the past year working with Barstool Sports. He hosts the Pat Bev Podcast with Rone, where new episodes are released every Wednesday. He’s likely to spend more time on his side ventures once he decides to hang his sneakers up.
Beverley tosses ball as Milwaukee falls 120-98 vs Pacers
The Milwaukee Bucks were ousted from the 2024 NBA Playoffs on Thursday night 120-98 by the Pacers and Patrick Beverley didn’t take it very well at all. At the end of the game, a Pacers fan tossed him the basketball, but Beverley proceeded to fire it right back at them in anger and frustration.
In the video, you can clearly see Beverley throw the ball in the stands first. Then the fan gently tossed the ball back. Then the Bucks star decided to fire it back at the fan in frustration.
He’ll be getting a massive fine for that one, no doubt about it. Things were getting testy for much of the game on Thursday, so it’s not surprising to see Beverley get ticked off after losing. It’s the second straight season the Milwaukee Bucks have been bounced in the first round. And tensions ran high.
Indiana won Game 6 120-98, winning the series 4-2. The Bucks were outscored in all four quarters. Indiana hit 13 of their 40 three-pointers.
The Pacers got double-digit efforts from six different players on Thursday night, led by Obi Toppin with 21 points and eight rebounds. T.J. McConnell had 20 points and nine assists and Tyrese Haliburton pumped in 17 points and 10 assists while grabbing six rebounds.
Milwaukee has now only won one playoff series since winning the 2021 NBA Championship. They’ll have to figure out a better formula to show up in the playoffs.
