'Not even remotely': Paul Merson makes bold Manchester United claim, predicts result vs Crystal Palace

Ahead of a trip to Selhurst Park on Monday, Paul Merson has shared his predictions for Manchester United’s penultimate league away game.

It’s insane how fast the season goes, and we’re now only a couple of weeks from drawing a line under the 2023-24 season.

For many Manchester United fans, however, this will be a welcomed break considering how bad some of the performances have been.

However, there is still plenty to play for right now with Europa League football a far better prospect than Conference League football, which explains why the race for sixth is heating up.

But it isn’t an easy run-in for Erik ten Hag‘s side, which starts against Crystal Palace on Monday.

It’s then Newcastle, Arsenal and Brighton to round out the campaign before heading to Wembley to hopefully upset Manchester City.

Paul Merson predicts Manchester United vs Crystal Palace

Merson has been writing his weekly predictions column on SportsKeeda and in doing so has predicted the result as Ten Hag takes his side to Selhurst Park.

“If Eberechi Eze and Michael Olise are fully fit, Crystal Palace will beat Manchester United and anyone who has watched the Red Devils in recent weeks will agree with me.

“Manchester United are a massive football club, but not a massive football team anymore.

“Their team is not even remotely close to being considered good enough considering the size of the club. I’d be more shocked if Manchester United won this game – that’s where it’s got to at the moment!

Merson then made his scoreline prediction: Crystal Palace 2-1 Manchester United.

Merson gives verdict on Marcus Rashford’s situation

One of this week’s hottest topics has been the future of Marcus Rashford given he’s perceived to be unhappy at Old Trafford.

However, now Merson’s given his prediction for Rashford’s future, suggesting he may not have many suitors this summer.

“There have been reports that Marcus Rashford could be offloaded this summer.

“I like him but blows hot and cold far too often for teams to pay silly money for him, so I can’t see him getting a transfer this summer.”

This makes sense considering the England international will have impressed nobody this season, with his commitment to football being questioned, it’d be a high-risk, high-reward signing for whoever was interested.

However, on the other side, there’s little chance Rashford goes given he’s the face of the club, we imagine he’ll get at least another year.
