Verstappen tops single practice for F1 Miami Grand Prix

Champion Max Verstappen of Red Bull topped the single practice session for the Miami Grand Prix on Friday.

The Dutchman clocked 1 minute 28.595 seconds around the Miami International Autodrome, 0.105 second ahead of the McLaren of OScar Piastri. Carlos Sainz of Ferrari completed the top three.

Miami is hosting a sprint weekend, with the sprint qualifying scheduled for later on Friday.

There was a red flag early in the session after Charles Leclerc spun his Ferrari and stopped on track.

He initially tried to spin the car around, but was unable to get the car moving again, blocking most of the track. The Monegasque didn't resume the session and completed only three laps.

The sprint race and qualifying for the Miami Grand Prix are on Saturday, while the main race takes place on Sunday.
