Ligue 1 trio appeal to Man Utd, no way back for 'little genius' - Transfer Q&A

Manchester United are set for a busy summer and now Graeme Bailey has shared with us some updates on the club’s plans.

For the new regime at Manchester United, this summer will be huge in kicking things off in the correct way.

Whether it’s Erik ten Hag who remains in charge or a replacement arrives, big changes will be afoot this summer.

With lots of players up for sale and a transfer shortlist which must be on its second or third page by now, Ineos will be busy.

To delve into the news around Old Trafford, we’ve spoken to HITC’s transfer expert Graeme Bailey to get some updates on several hot topics heading into the summer.

On Jadon Sancho’s future

On Wednesday night, Jadon Sancho picked up a man of the match award in the Champions League semi-final.

As he bullied the PSG defenders, United were in the stands watching him impress.

“United were in attendance last night to watch Jadon Sancho but it was described to me as a ‘natural thing’.

“United are keeping an eye on all the loan players, especially the high-profile ones.

“The potential of Sancho returning to the club is one which won’t go away, it’s on the table, but my understanding is that Sancho will stay at Dortmund for at least another year.”

On Mason Greenwood’s future at Manchester United

One player who is attracting interest this summer from various top European sides is Mason Greenwood.

Previously, there seemed a possibility that he could make a return to Old Trafford, but that no longer is the case for the player lauded as a ‘little genius‘.

“I don’t see a way back for him now at any point. I think the door is shut on it now.”

On Bruno Fernandes’ future

This past week has seen some surprising noise around the future of Bruno Fernandes who may find himself looking for an exit this summer.

But for Graeme, there is little chance of this happening.

“I don’t see them moving on from him this summer, that is not my belief at all. I think they’re happy with the way he’s played this season.”

United keen on Nice trio

When it looked like Ineos were arriving at United, many assumed we’d see deals done with the other clubs under their control.

This being Nice and Lausanne, with Nice in particular having a few suitable players in their squad right now, Graeme has suggested three could be options this summer.

“Khephren Thuram is an interesting one, along with Jean-Clair Todibo and Melvin Bard.

“Don’t rule them out, they’re the sort of signings United will be making, the £30,40,50m players, that’s a more likely avenue they go down rather than £70,80m players.”

On Omari Forson new contract

One player who currently is set to depart this summer is Omari Forson as he is yet to sign a new contract.

The prospect has emerged this season as a strong squad player, making his full debut and featuring in multiple cameos.

“As it stands, it isn’t clear who’s making a push for him, United will feel he’s aware of who wants him if he does go.”
