Travis Kelce may be on TV now but didn’t get his ‘favorite’ game show – ‘It’s untouchable’

Travis Kelce is set to host the new game show Are Your Smarter Than A Celebrity but his dream gig as host is “untouchable”.

If you’ve ever wanted to unlock the minds of Travis and Jason Kelce, the New Heights Podcast is as great a key as any. You’ll know Travis as a tight tight end for the Kansas City Chiefs as well as Taylor Swift‘s boyfriend. His brother Jason is a former center for the Philadelphia Eagles. Collectively, you’ll know them as the hosts of their podcast, where they discuss everything from football to game shows. Speaking of which, Travis is set to step into that TV world but not exactly into the hosting role of his dreams.

Travis Kelce reveals the game show he calls ‘untouchable’

On the latest episode of New Heights, Jason gave his brother a shout-out, highlighting that he’s set to host a new game show called Are You Smarter Than A Celebrity?

“In the show,” Jason began to explain, “an adult contestant will rely on a classroom full of celebrities from stage, screen, and sports to help them answer 11 questions on a range of subjects pulled from elementary curriculum in an effort to win a $100,000 prize.”

It’s essentially a new riff on the classic formula of the game show Are You Smarter Than A 5th Grader, swapping out kids for celebs.

“That was actually pretty good,” Travis chimed in after his brother’s top-notch summary. “It was nice how you just laid that out there like that.”

When the conversation turned to Jason asking what Travis’ favorite game show ever was, he came prepared… “Price Is Right,” he quickfired without even a second’s hesitation. “It doesn’t matter, it’s untouchable.”

“It’s hard,” Jason agreed. “It’s hard to beat.” Generally considered the greatest game show of all time, the legendary Bob Barker was its longest-running host from 1972 up until he retired in June 2007.

However, the pair and their mother Donna did appear on The Price Is Right At Night’s Super Bowl episode earlier this year. Judging from Travis’ comments on the recent pod, on the other hand, it’s obvious he doesn’t feel up to the task of stepping in to host.

Travis used to fake being ‘sick’ to watch The Price Is Right

Considering the game show “untouchable”, it’s no surprise that Travis has some fond childhood memories of going out of his way to tune in.

“I literally used to, whenever I would not want to go to school,” he remembered, “I would just tell mom that I’m sick, and she would just make me chicken noodle soup, give me some rice crackers, and at 10 am be able to watch The Price Is Right. And then Family Feud was right after that.”

Whether the price is right or not, Jason wasn’t wrong to congratulate his brother on achieving the legendary feat of game show host—even if it’s not his favorite.

“I think everyone’s going to really enjoy this one,” Travis remarked. “It’s on Amazon Prime, so it’s streamed.”

When asked if anybody bagged the top prize, and although he couldn’t confirm, Travis did offer that there were some “exciting contestants” and said, “it was a blast shooting it, and to be honest I always wanted to do something with a game show.”

He said it didn’t matter whether he was just helping out, entering as a contestant, or seizing the golden opportunity to host, as long as he was part of the game show world. Mission: Accomplished.
