Oreo just teased two 'fake' flavors, and people think it's a test

Oreo just teased two ‘fake’ flavors on Instagram, and people are convinced the cookie giant is up to something.

It comes as Oreo has just launched a real Sour Patch Kids collaboration with a hint of candy and bubblegum.

Oreo teases ‘fake’ flavors

The food giant shared an image of two packets, a yellow one that says “Lavender flavor creme” and a green one that says “Matcha”.

The Lavender flavored cookie is golden in color with a pastel purple filling, while the Matcha is a green cookie with a white cream in the middle.

“Girls don’t want flowers, they want flower-inspired OREO fake flavors,” they wrote in the caption, confirming both flavors aren’t real.

Oreo has launched a Matcha flavor in Asia before, but they’ve never made their way to the United States.

People think it’s a test

However, some are convinced Oreo is sharing these fake flavors to test whether they would be popular with fans. If they get a good reaction, the cookie brand could then make the flavors for real, confident they will be a success.

“These are not real, but I do wonder if brands are posting these ‘fake’ concepts to see if the reaction is positive enough to move forward with because lavender and matcha are super popular flavors at the moment,” Instagram foodie Snackolator said.

Matcha and Lavender go down well

If that is the case, Oreo certainly got what they asked for because everyone is going gaga for the fake flavors.

One person commented: “I need to try those Lavender ones, and I’m sure the Matcha are DELICIOUS.”

“MATCHA OREOS WOULD BE EVERYTHING,” said another.

A third person wrote: “Don’t be shy, Oreo, give us the lavender.”

“Those Matcha Oreos would be sold out in seconds!” someone else said.

Another agreed: “I am extremely upset it’s not real.”

Let’s hope Oreo does launch lavender and matcha! In the meantime, you can try their new churro flavor.
