'So so...': Sheffield Wednesday's Josh Windass aims dig at Huddersfield Town after Terriers relegated

Josh Windass has aimed a dig at Huddersfield Town after Sheffield Wednesday beat the drop, and the Terriers were relegated.

It was a manic final day in the Championship as Sheffield Wednesday secured their safety and completed their miraculous turnaround under Danny Rohl.

Liam Palmer opened the scoring in the first half and Windass added the second soon after; scoring the penultimate goal of the Owls’ season for a second year running.

The 30-year-old striker ends the season on six Championship goals and 40 in total for Sheffield Wednesday.

His contract is out in the summer but for now, he’s enjoying the Wednesday celebrations.

Windass has also sent a message to Huddersfield Town after the Terriers’ relegation to League One was confirmed following a 2-0 loss against Ipswich Town.

Josh Windass aims dig at Huddersfield Town

In February, Huddersfield Town thumped Sheffield Wednesday 4-0 at the John Smith’s Stadium.

That game was one of the many times that Wednesday looked down and out in the race for survival.

But the tables have since turned with Huddersfield Town ending the season with one win in 12, compared to Wednesday’s three-game winning streak, six games unbeaten, and survival.

Huddersfield Town posted on X after that win over Wednesday in February, saying ‘This is fun, isn’t it?’ to which Windass has now replied:

Sheffield Wednesday didn’t have one thing during turnaround

Sheffield Wednesday had everything and anything in the final stretch of games; confidence, belief, quality and so on.

But one thing they seem to have lacked in the final weeks is a bit of luck.

There’s been goals disallowed that were clearly on side, injuries, and even on Saturday, Birmingham City, Plymouth Argyle, and Blackburn Rovers all won.

Sheffield Wednesday though have never relied on any other team other than themselves.

They’ve built this turnaround through sheer determination and that’s what makes it extra special.

Windass should enjoy the comeback, too, even if he’s poking fun at Huddersfield.

He’s faced a lot of criticism this season but he’s provided the goods at the perfect time, once again.
