Report: Aston Villa have moved for 'Messi-esque' left-footer who fancies PL move; could be theirs for just £26m

Aston Villa have enjoyed a superb season under Unai Emery that will hopefully be a springboard to sustained success in the coming years.

The Villans are in pole position to finish fourth in the Premier League table and could yet reach the final of the Europa Conference League.

With the transfer window now on the horizon, Villa may well look to bolster their ranks and bring in yet more top talents.

The Villans have considerable pull in the market, bringing in the likes of Nicolo Zaniolo, Pau Torres, Moussa Diaby, Leon Bailey and Philippe Coutinho in recent years.

Now, Villa are reportedly looking to bring in a player who has been compared to Lionel Messi, Diego Maradona and Zico.

According to Tuttomercatoweb, Villa have made an approach for Juventus loanee Matias Soule, who is currently flying at Frosinone.

The report claims the Villans aren’t looking to take up their option to buy Zaniolo from Galatasaray and, as such, are looking for a replacement.

Soule’s intention is to play at the highest possible level and the Premier League is ‘obviously a league of interest’ for the 21-year-old, said the report.

Juve are reportedly looking to do business starting at €30million, which works out at around £26million.

Matias Soule a good shout for Aston Villa

Soule is a top talent who looks like he has an amazing future in the game.

The Argentine left-footer has impressed on loan at Frosinone, bagging 11 goals and three assists from 32 Serie A outings this term.

Jacek Kulig of Football Talent Scout previously said the reported Villa target is a ‘Messi-esque’ talent who ‘can really produce magic’.

Meanwhile, former Leicester boss Claudio Ranieri is quoted by Tuttomercatoweb as saying: “When you have champions like Soule who shoot like Maradona or Zico, you just have to applaud him.”

Best of all, £26million isn’t a sum that would break the bank for Villa, particularly if they get into the Champions League. He’s definitely worth a shout.
