Darren Bent says one Man City player did something 'unbelievable' vs Wolves and it's not Erling Haaland

Darren Bent was left amazed by an ‘unbelievable’ thing one Manchester City player did in Saturday’s victory over Wolves, and it isn’t Erling Haaland.

Manchester City’s remarkable run of form continued on Saturday as they cruised past Wolves in a 5-1 victory.

Erling Haaland was the star of the show as he bagged a first-half hat-trick before adding a ridiculous fourth after the break in an instant response to the visitors’ consolation.

Julian Alvarez grabbed a fifth late on as Pep Guardiola’s side gave their goal difference a boost in the title race with Arsenal.

The Gunners remain top after they eased past Bournemouth earlier in the day and currently have a superior goal difference by six.

However, City know that if they win their three remaining fixtures they will clinch their fourth title in a row.

Haaland will no doubt take all the plaudits as he returned to his best but Darren Bent moved to praise another player, too.

Darren Bent praises Man City player for ‘unbelievable’ contribution vs Wolves

Haaland was sublime in his first start since recovering from injury but he wouldn’t have been able to do it without those behind him, especially Rodri.

The midfield maestro put in yet another fantastic performance as he played in a more advanced position to win the ball high up the pitch.

That’s exactly what he did for the second goal as he stole possession before then delivering a perfect cross for Haaland to power home.

Bent couldn’t praise it enough and told the Premier League: “The cross from Rodri is unbelievable.

“When you put it into that sort of area, he attacks it really well.

“He powers it exactly where it should be – if he doesn’t hit the target, one of his teammates taps it in. Really good header.”

Rodri’s unbeaten run continues

Though some may argue the winning steak should have ended after losing on penalties to Real Madrid, Rodri has now not lost a football match in 90 minutes in 71 games for City.

That’s a frankly ridiculous run and City’s dominance over Wolves couldn’t epitomise how important he is to the team.

The Blues were deservedly beaten by Wolves at Molineux when Rodri was suspended in October but with him back in midfield they never had a hope.

Rodri picked up another assist late on when he sent Alvarez through on goal, taking his goal contributions to 21 for the season.
