Israeli airstrike kills four civilians in southern Lebanon

Four civilians have been killed in an Israeli airstrike in Lebanon, according to Lebanese reports.

The attack took place in the village of Mais al-Jabal near the Israeli border, the Lebanese state news agency NNA reported on Sunday.

Those killed were a couple and their two sons. Two other people were injured. The house that was attacked was badly damaged.

Israel did not initially comment on the attack.

Since the beginning of the Gaza war more than six months ago, there have been military confrontations between Israel's army and the Iran-backed Hezbollah militant group based in southern Lebanon.

There have already been casualties on both sides, and shelling has caused severe damage to villages on both sides of the border.

Around 150,000 people have been evacuated or have left the combat zone.
