Atletico Madrid interested in £45m Arsenal star after ‘brilliant’ Bournemouth display

Atletico Madrid are reportedly interested in an Arsenal star straight off the bat of an impressive performance against AFC Bournemouth.

With just two games left this season, attention will soon shift to the summer transfer window as Arsenal look set to once again be a major player in the market in terms of signings and sales, with huge emphasis on the latter category.

This week alone has seen Thomas Partey linked with a potential exit from Arsenal with Aaron Ramsdale, Eddie Nketiah and Reiss Nelson also reportedly set to leave north London, with Cedric Soares and Mohamed Elneny departing when their contracts expire.

And another name has been rumoured with an exit, with Atletico now interested.

Atletico eye £45m-rated Arsenal star Gabriel Jesus

According to Tutto Juve, the Spanish giants are interested in Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus, with Juventus also keeping tabs on the Brazilian international heading into the summer.

Lauded this weekend by Arsenal fans as ‘brilliant’ after his cameo off the bench against Bournemouth where Jesus assisted Declan Rice, offloading the 27-year-old would be quite a move from the north London side.

Only signed last summer from Manchester City for £45m, reports have been conflicting this week over where Arsenal stand on selling Jesus, who this season has had a noticeable drop off in terms of minutes and impact in the team.

Indeed, Atletico, much like FC Barcelona, are not in the financial position to spend big on high-earning players this summer, yet if Jesus were to push for a move, there’s a real chance that Arsenal could still offload the striker to the Madrid-based club.

Jesus could be exceptional under Diego Simeone at Atleti

Diego Simeone is regarded as one of the best managers in Europe and a coach who works a certain way when it comes to specific players, namely strikers, where Atletico have a rich track record.

With Alvaro Morata and Antoine Griezmann flourishing this season, adding Jesus to the mix has the potential to make Atletico one of the most exciting attacking clubs on the continent,

Moreover, Jesus’ profile means the former City star could thrive in Madrid with Atletico, especially if the Arsenal man can get over his current fitness issues and return to his best in Spain.
