A faulty dishwasher forced the interruption of an orchestra concert at the Elbphilharmonie concert hall in Hamburg on Sunday.

The broken appliance on the 13th floor of the concert hall triggered a fire alarm, which forced the evacuation of the building in the middle of an ongoing performance by the renowned Hamburg Philharmonic State Orchestra, according to a fire brigade spokesman.

Musicians, the audience and conductor Kent Nagano all had to leave the building. The interruption lasted for around an hour.

The performance was later resumed, according to a spokesman for the concert hall.
