’Not many people like him in the world’: Harvey Elliott hails Liverpool man after win over Tottenham

Harvey Elliott helped Liverpool return to winning ways when he starred during his side’s 4-2 win over Tottenham on Sunday.

The Reds went into the match with their Premier League title dreams almost over and their form out of the window.

But in typical Jurgen Klopp style, they were 4-0 up inside an hour and dispatching Champions League-chasing Tottenham for fun.

Yes, Spurs pulled two goals back through Richarlison and Son Heung-min, but Liverpool did enough to secure the three points.

There is no doubt that Harvey Elliott scored the goal of the game when he did his best Mohamed Salah impression by curing a stunning effort into the top corner.

The 21-year-old, who moved to Anfield as a teenager, is one of many players that has thrived and progressed under Klopp.

But with the German set to leave at the end of the season, it’s time for a new chapter to be written in this club’s history.

Elliott was sure to point out that ‘there aren’t many people in the world’ like his manager, as he told Premier League Productions (05/05/24 at 6:45 pm).

Two games remain – away at Aston Villa and home to Wolves – before Klopp departs and it has left Elliott emotional.

Harvey Elliott praises Jurgen Klopp

“It’s going to be difficult,” admitted Elliott ahead of Klopp’s exit. “On top of that, it’s going to be emotional when he leaves. The gaffer has given me many opportunities and given me memories for life.

“As a player, I am forever thankful and honoured to play under him. He has taught me many things, but at the same time, it’s new opportunities for everyone. It’s a fresh start, which could do us some good as well. But we just need to enjoy these last couple of games under him and be thankful for what he has done for this club and us as players.

“We want to finish with a bang and win these next two games. Enjoy it with the gaffer. Not many people like him in the world, especially the experiences and the achievements that we have made as players. It’s all because of him.”

Arne Slot to replace Jurgen Klopp

It has been well-documented but Arne Slot is set to replace Klopp for next season and he has massive shoes to fill.

Forget about tactics for a minute, just dealing with the pressure of replacing Klopp and taking charge of a club the size of Liverpool is going to be his biggest test.

If he can deal with that type of pressure, then it will help him a long way.

But that’s one of the reasons why the powers that be on Merseyside are bringing Slot in from Feyenoord because he is someone who is a strong man-manager and they are hoping he can replicate that feel-good manager Klopp brought to the table.
