Report: Everton are braced for summer ‘interest’ in £15m Frank Lampard signing who Gary Lineker likes

Everton’s summer window is unlikely to be an enjoyable one for the fanbase, who have already had to sit through a few barren ones already.

However, such is the financial failure of Farhad Moshiri, they simply have no other choice.

With PSR constantly breathing down their neck following two deductions this campaign, and an impending pressure to offload stars again for big fees, the coming months might be more about retaining assets than collecting new ones.

Everton expecting a huge summer of transfer movement

Having also written about a potential new buyer set to compete with 777 Partners to take over at Everton, journalist Alan Nixon would also offer a transfer update whilst writing for his latest Patreon post.

And whilst it is widely expected that this summer will not be one laden with big-name incomings, the outgoings will likely be far more frequent.

With a slew of players expected to leave at the expiration of their contracts, and Jarrad Branthwaite and Amadou Onana two hugely sellable assets constantly linked with moves away, the club’s desperate scramble for funds could see exits prevalent.

However, one player that would be a surprise departure is Dwight McNeil, yet Nixon still expects there to be interest.

He claimed: ‘There could also be interest in Dwight McNeil after a strong finish to the campaign so the Toffees have to be aware of the need for new faces.’

Dwight McNeil would be tough for Sean Dyche to replace

The 24-year-old has not set the world alight since joining Everton, but the notable improvements he has slowly made during his two years since leaving Burnley are worth applauding.

After all, having been the subject of affection from Gary Lineker upon first bursting onto the scene, it would have been tough to live up to such lofty expectations.

But with seven goals and three assists in the league last term, and a further nine crucial goal contributions this season, he has already proven his £15m worth.

Signed by Frank Lampard, the hard-working winger has truly come into his own since Dyche’s arrival, with their reunion proving profitable almost instantly.

In fact, when compared to other wingers across Europe’s top five leagues, he actually ranks in the top 1% for clearances per 90 and the top 13% for interceptions per 90, via FBref.

He is tireless down his flank and unlike many others in the division, hence why he would be so tough to replace unless he can command a huge fee.
