‘I’m told’: Fabrizio Romano shares update on Chelsea’s efforts to sign £50m Premier League star

Fabrizio Romano has now shared the latest on Chelsea’s attempts to make one signing from the Premier League this summer.

With there being just three games left of the campaign, the Blues now have a real chance of qualifying for Europe off the back of their strong form.

While it has been claimed that it may be Europa League or bust for Mauricio Pochettino as the manager, just being able to boast any form of European competition would be a big boost to their transfer hopes.

Reports claimed recently that the owners are prepared to make a change to their recent transfer policy of signing young players, with this opening up a new wave of options for this summer.

This includes Ivan Toney, who has been expected to leave Brentford pretty much ever since he returned from his ban.

Chelsea gone quiet on Toney

Romano has claimed to CaughtOffside however that things have gone quiet on the transfer front right now, with it likely to be one that happens later in the window.

He said: “It’s also quiet around Ivan Toney right now. Honestly, Arsenal and Chelsea never made proposals now or in January despite links – I’m told Toney’s situation will be assessed in the summer and it’s not one for May.

“Let’s see the strikers domino, and the player’s price tag. Brentford never wanted to make any discount for Toney, despite some talk of his price coming down significantly.”

Chelsea want a new striker

It has been reported that the Blues are keen in bringing in a striker at the end of this season, with a number of names being mentioned as possible candidates.

Victor Osimhen was the man who was linked strongest over the weekend, with it even being stated that they could be willing to include Romelu Lukaku in any potential deal.

There will certainly be some Chelsea fans though that have been watching the performances of their side recently and wondering if a new striker is the priority.

Impressive displays from Nicolas Jackson leading the line recently have helped the Blues get to where they are in the table, and he looks like an important player for the future.
