Report: As well as Sunderland, another Championship team is now keen on Danny Rohl at Sheffield Wednesday

Sheffield Wednesday manager Danny Rohl has yet another suitor in the Championship.

Sheffield Wednesday beat Sunderland 2-0 on the final day of the season to secure their Championship safety, with Rohl impressing Black Cats fans online.

Sunderland had previously been linked with a summer move for Rohl following his impressive tenure in S6, with Rohl’s Hillsborough future still somewhat uncertain.

Owls owner Dejphon Chansiri has reportedly made a start on making the off-field changes that Rohl wants to see this summer, with the pair having held positive talks about the future.

But another team has now added Rohl to their managerial shortlist; it’s claimed by HullLive that Hull City owner Acun Ilicali is a fan of Rohl.

The Tigers are now without a manager after sacking Liam Rosenior on Tuesday despite a 7th place finish in the Championship this season.

Latest on Danny Rohl future and contract at Sheffield Wednesday

Although there’s no official confirmation or suggestions that Rohl is staying at Sheffield Wednesday, his comments for the past few months now have indicated at him being willing to stay.

It’s simply down to Chansiri to deliver on Rohl’s wishes this summer and make the necessary changes and give him the required resources to rebuild his team.

And likewise; there’s no confirmation on Rohl’s contract at Sheffield Wednesday, though previous reports have suggested that his current deal runs until the end of the 2024/25 campaign.

Do Sheffield Wednesday need to worry about Hull City interest

Hull City have just enjoyed a strong season in the Championship, and so they’ll be an attractive club for a lot of managers out there.

Rosenior took charge in 2022 when the club were in 21st place of the table and almost got them into the play-offs this season.

Whoever takes charge will be taking control of a very prosperous club. But there might not be much need for worry among Sheffield Wednesday fans where Hull are concerned.

Rohl, if anything, seems very loyal. He arguably could’ve left Sheffield Wednesday already and taken charge of Sunderland.

So moving to a Hull city outfit where they’ve just sacked the manager after a 7th place finish doesn’t seem like much of a Rohl move.

Sunderland may be considered the same, but for Chansiri, now is the time to act and show Rohl that he can have a bright future with Sheffield Wednesday.
