Maryland Man Allegedly Killed Mother in Bathtub at Home They Share

A Maryland man has been arrested for allegedly killing his mother inside the home they share and leaving her body in the bathtub, authorities said.

The Fruitland Police Department and emergency medical services responded to a residence on Sand Castle Boulevard in Fruitland after a woman was reported to be unconscious shortly before 9 p.m. Sunday, May 5, Knewz.com has learned.

Officers were met by the victim's husband, and EMS personnel found the victim, later identified as 68-year-old Beatrice Kay Gentry, unresponsive in a bathtub. She was pronounced dead at the scene.

Fruitland police requested assistance from the Maryland State Police Homicide Unit, which processed the scene for evidence. During the course of investigation, 48-year-old Jeremy Gentry, the victim's son, was identified as a suspect.

Gentry was arrested the morning of May 6, according to Maryland State Police. He is charged with first- and second-degree murder, first- and second-degree assault, and reckless endangerment.

Beatrice Kay Gentry's cause and manner of death were not released, pending autopsy results. Police said the investigation is ongoing.
