Personal trainer humbles gym goers as he cautions against toxic behavior

Personal trainer and fitness influencer Joey Swoll has slaughtered a fellow gym enthusiast over this toxic behavior approach to weight training.

Joey Swoll (@thejoeyswoll) is no stranger to calling it as he sees it on social media, hence the nickname CEO of Gym Positivity. On his flourishing TikTok account, the influence usually posts workout content and discussions for his 7.7 million followers.

What toxic gym behavior did Joey take issue with?

Addressing his followers on Sunday, Joey posted a lengthy video that served as an update to a previous takedown of influencer Nick K.

The video in question showed a gymgoer struggling to perform assisted dips without a weight between his legs. Just seconds later, Nick strolled in with weight between his legs and proceeded to outperform the other man, seemingly showing him up in the process.

Taking issue with the video, Joey said: “This young man filmed someone at the gym then posted it to social media to shame them and act as if he’s better than them just because he is stronger.

“I tried to explain to him that being bigger and stronger someone does not make you better than them. Of course, he tried to make excuses but he did say he would apologize to that man and make a video about it.”

The saga continued

From Joey’s perspective, the two muscle-clad men left things in a reasonable place, with Joey telling him that taking accountability would pull people back on his side. Unfortunately, it went the opposite way.

“He changed his Instagram name and then put up a post celebrating and laughing at me being put into the cardiac ICU and almost losing my life,” Joey continued before addressing Nick directly, “I hope you are doing better, treating people with respect at the gym and I truly wish nothing but the best for you.”

Nick has since addressed the takedown video in two Instagram posts, with the first suggesting he had not taken Joey’s reply well. However, after another 24 hours and presumably some good thinking time, Nick penned: “Overall, Joey if you’re even seeing this just hope we can find a mutual respect. The world has too much hate in it and I’m not going to add to it. I hope you feel the same and will get your fan base of millions to think the same as well.”

Ultimately, the lesson seems dropping the Toxic gym behaviour and staying out of other people’s business. At the end of the day, you’re there to improve your own body, not use said body as a way to knock others down.
