Liverpool should have the chance to sign ‘highly aggressive’ player from PSG this summer - opinion

The perfect player from Paris Saint Germain might just become available for Liverpool this summer.

While Liverpool will prioritise bringing in a centre-back and an attacker in the summer transfer window, the club should consider another area to strengthen as well.

Last summer, Liverpool wanted to bring in a holding midfielder, and in the end they did with Wataru Endo being snapped up.

However, while the Japanese international has been superb for Liverpool, it’s clear he is not a long-term candidate for the role.

In the upcoming summer transfer window, Liverpool should look to reinforce the area with a younger player.

Why Manuel Ugarte is the perfect fit for Liverpool

Liverpool wanted to sign Manuel Ugarte last summer from Sporting CP. But in the end the Uruguayan moved to Paris Saint Germain.

It’s a move that hasn’t quite worked out for Ugarte so far. He’s not been given too many opportunities to impress. In fact, in PSG’s last six games, he’s played just 39 minutes of football and started on the bench in every single one.

However, there’s still a really talented player in there, who has been described as ‘highly aggressive’ in the past, which is exactly what Liverpool need.

Liverpool lack a pure ball-winner, and that’s what Ugarte is all about. He could thrive at Anfield next season.

Should Liverpool make the move for Ugarte?

Considering it seems like he is not in Luis Enrique’s plans at Paris Saint Germain, it would be worth testing the waters for Liverpool.

Ugarte might be looking to move away from the French capital given how his season has gone, and Liverpool could offer him the refuge he seeks.

It’s a move that would make sense for all parties involved. The only thing it will hinge on is how much PSG will be willing to let him go for.
