Rico Lewis says player Man City let go in 2020 was an absolute 'magician'

Rico Lewis has claimed that Manchester City let go of a player in 2020 who was a magician.

City have had plenty of players in the past who can be associated with the tag Rico Lewis gave.

Samir Nasri is a prime example of a magician Manchester City have had at their disposal.

Due to how highly Nasri was rated at Arsenal, there might be an idea that his career fell by the wayside at the Etihad Stadium.

However, the Frenchman was a class act for the majority of his spell at the club and his playing style has always been easy on the eye, regardless of which team he has played for.

Samir Nasri seemed like the closest thing to Zinedine Zidane that France had produced.

However, Nasri’s career did not reach the heights that Zidane’s did.

Even so, the way Samir Nasri wriggled through tight areas, played incisive passes and beat players was a delight to watch, especially during the 2013/2014 season when City won the league title.

But the player in question was another maestro who donned sky blue and was a key player under Pep Guardiola.

That was David Silva, whose name Nathan Ake had to guess during a guessing game with Rico Lewis during a video with the club’s in-house media.

To help Nathan Ake guess David Silva being the answer, Rico Lewis said: “Magician, in the past.”

Ake instantly replied: “Silva.”

How David Silva is remembered by Rico Lewis and the masses

The fact that Nathan Ake found it simple to name David Silva after Rico Lewis mentioned a certain magician who used to play for Manchester City is an insight into his legacy.

Often, legacies are discussed while a player is still active.

However, only time decides how a player’s legacy ages by how they are discussed years after they retire.

Putting aside all the trophies Silva won for City and Spain, the way he is viewed as a sorcerer with the ball at his feet has defined his legacy.

Unfortunately for both Rico Lewis and Nathan Ake, they were unable to play with David Silva at the Etihad Stadium.

But the pair seem to hold him in high esteem.
