Pablo Sarabia is doing something at Wolves which even Chelsea star Cole Palmer cannot compete with

Wolves star Pablo Sarabia has suffered a dip in form recently however, the Spaniard’s numbers this season prove that he’s outperforming some of the best in the Premier League.

It’s been a trialling few weeks for Pablo Sarabia who has been performing far below the levels he showcased earlier this year.

The Spaniard has been called upon to act as the leader in Wolves’ squad amid a host of concurrent injury woes, however, the former PSG man has failed to stand up to the mark when needed most.

Over the past few fixtures, Sarabia has seen his performances questioned as Gary O’Neil’s squad as a whole endured a purple patch of form, with the 31-year-old being accused of going ‘missing’ in games.

That being said, when the Spain international is at his best, he’s difficult to stop, as seen earlier in 2024 as his form hit a high, seeing him flourish in O’Neil’s side.

Aside from his recent dip in quality, Sarabia has shown his worth on occasions this season, with numbers showing just how potent the Real Madrid academy graduate can be on his day.

Pablo Sarabia is outperforming Cole Palmer and Mohamed Salah in one Premier League statistic

As relayed by TheOther14 on Twitter, the Wolves attacking jewel is performing at a higher level than the likes of Mohamed Salah, Cole Palmer and James Maddison this season in one creative area.

When it comes to chances created per 90, Sarabia averages a stellar 2.66, falling just shy of Liverpool superstar, Trent Alexander-Arnold, who averages 2.70.

What’s interesting is the names that come below the Spaniard in the list, with Chelsea playmaker Palmer being one, Salah another and Crystal Palace sensation Eberechi Eze, telling of the quality the Wolves man can exert on his day.

Gary O’Neil needs to see more from Pablo Sarabia

If anything the numbers are frustrating for Wolves, who have not seen even shades of Sarabia’s brilliance recently, with his form falling off when O’Neil has needed him most.

Journalist Liam Keen shared his ‘biggest criticism’ about the 2023 arrival last month, saying that he believes the 31-year-old isn’t capable of improving players around him and contrastingly requires his teammates to be at their best to shine.

Such critique rings true when evaluating that Sarabia’s form dipped when a host of first-team forwards were unavailable, making his opinion factual but equally inexcusable from the experienced player.

With two games left of the 2023/24 season, it will be hoped that the £90k-a-week star can showcase just why he is ranked so highly in creative terms this campaign in the Premier League, with his quality needing to be seen again at Molineux.
