Leeds United should reignite interest in Luka Jovic
Luka Jovic was once dubbed a ‘wonderkid’ and after impressing at Eintracht Frankfurt he earned a £52m move to Real Madrid in the summer of 2019.
Three goals in 51 appearances for Madrid saw his stock fall dramatically and he is now playing his trade in Serie A with Milan.
The 26-year-old striker has netted a commendable nine goals in 28 appearances this season, though, it seems he’ll be leaving on a free transfer at the end of his contract in June.
This is where Leeds come into the equation, as if they are to gain promotion, it’s a player they could look to bring in.
In 2022, the West Yorkshire outfit enquired about Jovic whilst he was at the Bernabeu, so clearly, he’s a player the club admire.
Luka Jovic would be perfect for Daniel Farke
It’s become pretty evident throughout the season that Leeds will need to sign a striker this summer, as Joel Piroe just simply hasn’t delivered.
The £12m summer signing doesn’t fit Farke’s system, though, Jovic certainly would and the German boss could help to bring the best out of him.
Jovic isn’t too dissimilar to Teemu Pukki profile-wise in the sense that he’s mobile and a willing runner in behind. The pair are excellent link-up players too. Indeed, Pukki was prolific under Farke.
If the Serbia international can rediscover his Frankfurt form, Leeds could secure one of the bargains of the window on a free.
