Prince Harry confirms he won't be seeing his dad King Charles anytime soon

Prince Harry has arrived in the UK to attend the tenth anniversary of the Invictus Games, however, it doesn’t look like he’ll be meeting with his dad, King Charles after all.

King Charles announced he had been diagnosed with cancer at the beginning of the year, and Prince Harry had arrived in the UK in days. The two had a brief 30-minute meeting, as it was thought they’d reunite once again during the Duke’s latest visit, but Harry’s team has now confirmed this won’t be happening.

Prince Harry and King Charles ‘won’t meet’ in London

Despite being in the same country, and city as the royal family, there won’t be any family reunions for the father of two, which is said to be due to the monarch’s “full program.”

“In response to the many inquiries and continued speculation on whether or not The Duke will meet with his father while in the UK this week, it, unfortunately, will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” a spokesperson for Harry told USA TODAY.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon,” the statement concluded.

As well as not seeing his family back in the UK, the Duke has flown over alone, without Meghan Markle and his two children, Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet by his side.

After Harry and Charles’ meeting in February, it was thought the relationship had been somewhat repaired between the pair as the Prince told Good Morning America: “I spoke to him. And I jumped on a plane and went to go see him as soon as I could.”

“I love my family. The fact that I was able to get on a plane, go and see him, and spend any time with him – I’m grateful for that,” the Duke continued. He then revealed he had trips planned to take him ‘to or through’ the UK, and would “try to step in and see his family as much as he can,” although, it looks like it’s a no-go this time.

After taking time off while undergoing treatment for his health, King Charles returned to public duties last week. The palace has said his diary will be ‘carefully managed’ to minimise any risks to his health.

After he visits the UK, Harry will be flying over to Nigeria for another Invictus Games event, and this time, he’ll be joined by Meghan.

It’s not yet been confirmed whether their two children will join them on the trip abroad, where the couple will be meeting up with military officials as well as service men and their families.

During an episode of her former Spotify podcast, Archetypes, the former Suits actress revealed she has Nigerian ancestry which she discovered after having her genealogy done “a couple of years ago”.
