'It's advancing': Fabrizio Romano says Chelsea are now closing in on truly 'incredible' signing

Chelsea have made quite a name for themselves in recent years when it comes to signing some of the world’s best young talents.

At present, the Blues squad is packed full of brilliant players who look like they have an incredibly bright future in the game.

And this week, speculation has intensified regarding Chelsea and their pursuit of a player deemed ‘one of the best talents in the world’.

The player in question is Palmeiras wonderkid Estevao Willian, who looks like he could well become one of the future superstars of football.

On Wednesday, reports started doing the rounds claiming Chelsea had reached agreement with the 17-year-old over a prospective move to Stamford Bridge.

Now, Fabrizio Romano has taken to his YouTube channel to provide an in-depth update on the state of play involving the Blues and the “incredible” Estevao.

What has Fabrizio Romano said about Chelsea and Estevao Willian?

“What we can say now is that Chelsea have reached an agreement with Willian Estevao and his agents on the contract,” said Romano.

“So, salary, project, everything is ready between Chelsea and Willian Estevao. Now Chelsea have and want to close the deal with Palmeiras.

“Conversations are ongoing between Chelsea and Palmeiras waiting to sign an official bid. My understanding is that Chelsea’s initial proposal will be €32million (£27.5million) plus add-ons.

“What I’m hearing – I’m giving you this exclusive detail – is that the add-on structure could be over the value of the release clause, €55million (£47.3million).

“Chelsea prefer to pay some millions more but with different payment terms.

“And also with the advantage of closing the deal as soon as possible, so could be €32million now and 25million (£21.5million) in multiple years but in add-ons.

“So, not guaranteed money but also based on the performances on the player and they can pay that in multiple years, so could be a good deal in that case for Chelsea.

“It depends on Palmeiras now, so the conversation between the two clubs is ongoing, it’s advancing. But for sure Chelsea are working hard to bring in one of the best talents in the world.”

Chelsea closing in on future superstar in Estevao Willian

Although Estevao isn’t set to move until the summer of 2025, when he turns 18, the fact there’s been so much interest in him – and Chelsea are advancing towards his signature – shows just what a top talent he is.

He has been nicknamed ‘Messinho’ in his home country, which is testament to his immense quality. Chelsea will be hoping that he can develop into the next Lionel Messi.

He could eventually link up with a superb young team that will be developing together and should be a force to be reckoned with as they pick up more experience in the game.
