'Prince Harry is passing the blame onto King Charles and he didn't need to do that' - Opinion

Prince Harry has released a statement detailing how King Charles doesn’t have time to see him when he’s in the UK this week – and it speaks volumes.

The Duke of Sussex has made fleeting visits back to his homeland since he stepped down as a senior royal. The most known being in September 2022, when he and Meghan Markle flew back for the WellChild Awards Ceremony. However, at the time, the late Queen Elizabeth II‘s health took a turn, and she sadly passed. The Sussexes ended up extending their stay for the mourning and funeral period. But that’s the last time the TV star has stepped foot on British soil, a place she called home for a number of years before becoming Harry’s blushing bride. Instead, Prince Harry has made the trips solo, which royal experts have picked up on time and time again.

Now, he has returned to mark 10 years of the Invictus Games, set up by the 39-year-old, and a cause close to his heart. The 10th anniversary will be celebrated at St Paul’s Cathedral, and despite the date being in the diary for some time – Prince Harry won’t be seeing his dad King Charles during his visit, and announced it in a statement.

What the Duke doesn’t seem to understand, is instances like this, is what is pushing The Firm further apart.

Airing the royal family’s dirty laundry and every private detail goes against the late Queen’s wish for the family.

Since he left in 2020, the Sussexes have done anything but. An Oprah Winfrey bombshell interview in 2021 – a year after they left – a Netflix docu-series about the same issues, a year after that. Then in 2023 he released his memoir Spare, again, about his life growing up inside the palace walls.

When King Charles released the news he had been diagnosed with cancer, Harry rushed to see him, although only managing to see him for 15 minutes, according to reports.

Within days, he was speaking to Good Morning America at an event, and when the subject came up, he spoke about their private conversation again.

Each and every year since Harry left The Firm, the Prince has been revealing these personal insights without going through the usual channels, and it may be the last straw for his dad King Charles – and now he’s made another statement.

Due to the interest in the dad-of-two coming back, there was speculation whether they two would meet, seeing as they haven’t had a chance to see each other face-to-face after Charles’ cancer treatment. So Prince Harry released a statement yesterday detailing King Charles’ schedule is too busy for them to meet.

“It unfortunately will not be possible due to His Majesty’s full program,” it read.

“The Duke of course is understanding of his father’s diary of commitments and various other priorities and hopes to see him soon.”

Was this statement a way to pass the buck if stories came out on how they didn’t meet? Or was it, so the Duke won’t be seen in a bad light?

Prince Harry’s statement to the press over King Charles is telling a different story

Harry, who has called the press ‘the devil’ in his own words, seems to want to work with them when it benefits him.

It comes after he and Meghan hired a new PR expert for the UK, despite not wanting anything to do with newspapers.

Some royal experts have called the move a major U-turn, and Prince Harry’s recent statement addressing the potential King Charles visit, appears to follow this narrative as well.

Never complain, never explain – the late Queen’s favorite motto, according to sources. And although the royals have been more open with the public since Charles’ coronation, such as with his and Kate Middleton‘s cancer news, they still stand by it.

Speculation over Kate’s absence grew for weeks on end after her planned abdominal surgery, rose to unseen levels before she told the world she had a form of cancer. Although to some, they said she was ‘forced’ to come out to say it, it wasn’t actually the case. The rumors and baseless allegations something worse had happened had been traveling around social media for weeks before she released the video.

But the 42-year-old told fans she waited until she and Prince William could delicately tell their children about her health. Kate waited for the right time, not because of trolls on Twitter.

He’s fighting back

Prince Harry ‘telling’ on his dad looks like he’s passing the blame.

‘Look, guys, it’s not me – it’s him’.

Their relationship has been strained for some time, with the Duke speaking about it in his own biography. Talking about Charles marrying Queen Consort Camilla after he begged him not to, and how the royals wouldn’t apologize to his wife Meghan after the duo decided to leave.

Harry also alleged the palace and Camilla would leak stories to the press to put him and Meghan in a bad light, but whose using the press now?

The Duke is doing things his own way, going against the grain of ‘never complain, never explain’, but he’s actually going one step further – ‘Explain and pass the blame’.

This will just add to the list of examples why insiders claim Harry ‘can’t be trusted’ not to spill secrets when he spends time with his family. No wonder Charles and supposedly William don’t fancy a family reunion. Where will private details about their conversations be next time? Maybe a YouTube short or an Instagram Live?

If we scroll back to pre-2022, would he have done the same if he couldn’t see the Queen? He was out of the country for two years before her death, returning more than once, and Prince Harry never released a statement about his plans – or the lack thereof – so why King Charles?

Harry believes The Firm ignited the match when it came to burning bridges – but he’s fueling the flames.
