TV show's 'lazy' finale has fans calling latest season a 'flop' - 'was the budget cut?'

The Circle crowns its season 6 winner this Spring. After much anticipation, the show’s final episode dropped on Wednesday, May 8. Despite fans waiting patiently to find out which of the contestants was to bag a huge cash prize, many took to social media to share how disappointed they were with the finale.

Netflix is well known for its reality shows including hits such as Love Is Blind, and Physical 100. The Circle is also hugely popular, after all, the USA version is onto its sixth season. Following in the footsteps of The Circle’s UK version, the show arrived on Netflix in 2020. But, fans are now fearing it’s run its course.

The Circle season 6 winner

The Circle contestants battled to stay in the game since season 6 kicked off on April 17.

But, there could only be one winner and he was announced during May 8’s finale.

Brandon Baker took this year’s crown and a cash prize of $100,000, following in the footsteps of last year’s winner, Sam Carmona.

Brandon, 34, catfished his way through the competition, playing as ‘Olivia’.

The Circle’s ‘worst season ever’

Although The Circle’s finale is a cause for celebration for Brandon, fans took to social media to share how disappointed they were by the final episode.

One wrote on X (Twitter): “These finales are getting lazier and lazier. First season had a whole audience, we saw clips from the season. Now it’s just throw everyone in a room with no host.”

More suggest writing the show off altogether, tweeting: “This was the most low budget season ever. No finale dinner, no finale questions from the host. Speaking of the host where was she? Not speaking on the drama that occurred during the season? Just cancel the show at this point.”

Some went as far as to say season 6 was “the worst season of The Circle” and more described the final episode as “very weird.”

Even more viewers were keen to express their thoughts on the finale being “low budget,” adding: “We didn’t see the host Michelle, Brandon didn’t tell his mom on camera, people looked down that QT was 3rd, they didn’t have dinner. Why was it all so rushed and cheap?”

Reddit users also think they saw a budget cut this season.

Some also took to Reddit threads to say the show is “definitely flopping” compared to previous seasons.

Others were super sad over the “energy of the finale,” commenting: “It didn’t feel like a celebration.”

However, one tweeted some appreciation for the Netflix show, writing: “I think I’m the only person who absolutely LOVED this season of #TheCircleNetflix It was the only season without random people added at the end! And all the players were funnn!”
