Popeyes shakes up menu for summer, with new chicken sandwich and fruity iced teas

Popeyes has changed up its menu for the summer, with a brand-new chicken sandwich and two iced teas.

The new menu items are supposed to liven up your lunch, and are available for a limited time across the US.

Popeyes’ Golden BBQ Chicken Sandwich

The new food item is called the Golden BBQ Chicken Sandwich, the latest addition to Popeyes’ famous chicken sandwich lineup.

“Featuring a new sweet and tangy Golden BBQ sauce, this sandwich is sure to amp up your lunch hour,” the fast food chain said in a press release.

It features a buttermilk-battered chicken breast made with all white meat in a sweet and tangy Golden BBQ sauce, served on a buttery-toasted brioche bun with barrel-cured pickles.

You can also customize the sandwich with optional add-ons too, including a slice of Havarti cheese and Applewood smoked bacon.

“With its crispy, flavorful breading and rich, bold sauce, the Golden BBQ Chicken Sandwich is perfect for diners seeking a more vibrant and flavorful lunch option,” they continued.

The sandwich is available at participating restaurants nationwide right now, and joins the Chicken Sandwich, Blackened Chicken Sandwich and Bacon & Cheese Chicken Sandwich on the menu.

Right now, Popeyes is giving 600 Bonus Points to Rewards members when they spend $10, which is enough to get a Golden BBQ Chicken Sandwich for free!

It comes as KFC is currently testing the return of a beloved menu item, and Starbucks just launched three new Refreshers with popping boba pearls.

New Mango and Strawberry Iced Teas

To wash the new sandwich down, Popeyes has also launched two new drinks, a Mango Iced Tea and Strawberry Iced Tea.

The mango option is freshly brewed Popeyes tea infused with the sweet flavor of tropical mango. If strawberry is more your thing, that combines freshly brewed Popeyes tea with the sweet flavor of ripe strawberry.

You can get both flavors sweetened or unsweetened, and they retail for $3.59, but this may vary by location. Other thirst-quenching beverages on the menu right now include Strawberry Lemonade and Mango Lemonade.
