TV star who weighed over 600lbs drops two thirds of body weight in total transformation

My 600-lb Life star Wess is now thriving after dropping two thirds of his body weight. Thanks to Dr. Now, he has managed to stick to the weight loss program, and is still committed to working out today.

He returned to My 600-lb Life to give fans an update on his progress. Wess originally got off to a great start in Dr. Now’s programme, but when the cravings continue after surgery, he began therapy.

My 600-lb Life star Wess

Wess Schulze, 36, underwent therapy to confront his demons on My 600-lb Life, and was encouraged to ask himself whether he is ready to live his truth as a gay man in small town Texas.

He had to let go of the unhealthy food in his home and was urged by Dr Now to walk twice a day. Admitting the exercise “takes it out of him,” Wess was also faced with lymphedema on his leg.

Wess, who lives with his father, had started out weighing over 700lbs and even faced a disappointing scale weigh-in during one of his appointments. However, this did not deter him from losing weight.

Wess’ weight loss story

Wess explained that his weight gain began at a young age, when he grew up associating large meals with his father Rick’s love. His parents got divorced when he was three and his father gained custody.

He didn’t want to form attachments, so he made himself “undesirable by eating” and gaining weight. His therapist, Dr. Paradise, also helped him work through the issues stemming from childhood trauma.

By the end of his episode, he had lost a total of 228 pounds, and weighed 477 pounds after the episode. Since then, Wess has dropped an impressive five pant sizes – and continuing to drop even more!

How Wess is doing now

Wess is thriving after My 600-lb Life, and is now 400lbs down. Although he admits he gained a bit of weight and got back up to over 400lbs, he got back on the workout game and lost 35lbs.

He has also been “in and out of hospital and had several surgeries” which meant he could not exercise, but has recently been cleared to start working out again and already seen results.

It was on February 10, 2023, that Wess underwent his first-ever one-hour workout and it’s mainly been smooth-sailing from there, except when he had emergency surgery to remove his gallbladder.
