'Strange occasions': Humphrey Ker shares interesting Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds verdict at Wrexham

Wrexham’s executive director Humphrey Ker has issued an interesting verdict on Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds.

Most Wrexham supporters will be thinking they’re in dreamland.

For most of their recent history, the Reds have been rooted in the National League with only a glimmer of hope of escaping the division.

The Reds were relegated from League One in 2005 and then fell out of the Football League altogether in 2008. It wasn’t until Rob McElhenney and Ryan Reynolds arrived in Wales that their fortunes started to turn.

Fast forward three years and Wrexham have just achieved back-to-back promotions for the first time in their history, with the exciting prospect of third-tier football looming ahead.

This wouldn’t have been possible without the investment of McElhenney and Reynolds, who have completely transformed the football club and town.

Wrexham’s executive director Humphrey Ker – who was responsible for bringing the Hollywood superstars to Wales – has now made an interesting claim about the duo.

Humphrey Ker says who has better football knowledge – Rob McElhenney or Ryan Reynolds

Ker has played a massive part in Wrexham’s rise. He carries out the responsibilities of McElhenney and Reynolds in the United Kingdom while the Hollywood duo continue their busy schedules in the States.

Recently, the 41-year-old has given a lot of insight into various topics, including what his dream signing would be, links to Jamie Vardy and now, he’s revealed who has a better grasp of English football rules – McElhenney or Reynolds.

Speaking in an interview with SPORTbible, Ker said: “Well, if I have to pick between the two of them I’m going to say Rob and not just because he was my boss before this.

“Ryan has been so busy this year that he’s just not had as much time to dedicate to being at the club to follow what’s going on. He follows everything but he’s making the most eagerly anticipated movie of the last five years at the moment and it comes out in a month and a half time so he’s just absolutely slammed.”

Humphrey Ker’s importance to Wrexham

Ker recently opened up on his future, stating that his duties with Wrexham have ‘taken a toll’ on him despite giving him some of the best moments of his life so far.

McElhenney was inspired and wanted to buy a football club after being told to watch the ‘Sunderland ‘Til I Die’ series by Ker. The Always Sunny In Philadelphia star sent Ker away to find a club to purchase, picking out Wrexham just ahead of Hartlepool.

The rest, as they say, is history with the Welsh powerhouse continuing to fly up the leagues.

Indeed, without Ker’s initial involvement, McElhenney and Reynolds wouldn’t have joined forces to buy the club.

As previously mentioned, Ker oversees most of the club’s business operations and occupies a lot of his time in Wrexham.

Without his involvement, they would be far less better off and the stressful nature of his job makes him a hugely popular figure among supporters.
