King Charles 'worried Harry and Meghan will misinterpret' Archie's homemade gift

King Charles is said to be concerned Prince Harry and Meghan Markle may misinterpret the homemade birthday gift he sent to Archie for his fifth birthday this week.

The monarch is believed to have sent over the sweet present to his grandson, who lives in California with his mother and father. Prince Harry and the Duchess of Sussex moved to their Montecito mansion when the youngster was just a year old, so he’s lived in the States longer than he did in the UK. For Archie’s birthday, which took place on May 6, King Charles reportedly sent the little one a homemade present to mark the occasion.

Tom Quinn, royal expert, told The Mirror the monarch sent off one of his own paintings.

He said: “There has even been talk that he will send one of his own watercolor paintings to Archie as a present as Meghan loves homemade gifts and dislikes extravagant expensive presents.

“But King Charles and his team are desperately worried that whatever the King sends to his grandson may be misinterpreted by Harry and Meghan.”

It’s not the first present he has sent to one of his grandchildren, with Charles gifting Prince George a swing with his name engraved on the seat for his special day.

But Quinn claims the Duke of Sussex has told his father ‘repeatedly’ a present like that for Archie would be ‘too grand’.

The King is a keen painter, and some of his work has been featured for all eyes to see. In 2020, during a video he sent through his charity, The Prince’s Trust, a watercolor painting of Balmoral Castle hung on the wall in the background.

Quinn went on to say King Charles may even organized a video call for Archie’s birthday, so he shared a special moment with him despite living thousands of miles apart.

The author says although he ‘dislikes new technology’ he is eager to keep in touch with the youngsters, like Archie and Lilibet.

“If he makes an ordinary telephone call to Harry it means he can have a quick word with Archie without the need to talk to Meghan, a prospect that fills him with dread,” he continues.

It comes as Harry spends a few days back in his homeland to celebrate the 10th anniversary of the Invictus Games in London – but the Duke won’t be seeing his dad Charles.

Although, hours before he touched down on British soil, the prince announced via statement how King Charles was too busy to see him. The monarch, who is currently undergoing treatment for cancer, is now back to full royal duties, and has a packed diary.

Harry came back solo, another trip without Meghan Markle or their children Archie and Lilibet.
