Erik ten Hag’s Red Devils have endured a difficult season, though a Europa League place is still very much up for grabs via their league finish or by winning the FA Cup.
Meanwhile, Mikel Arteta’s Gunners must win at Old Trafford if they want to take their title challenge to the final day of the campaign.
With Manchester City in near-unstoppable form, Arsenal will be aware that the reigning champions will be heavy favourites in their final three fixtures.
Permutations aside, you’ve also got bragging rights at stake between two huge clubs that gave Premier League fans some epic title battles back in the 1990s and 2000s.
Chris Sutton has been previewing and predicting every Premier League game on BBC Sport this season, and this is what he has had to say about Manchester United v Arsenal.
Who does Chris Sutton think will win between Manchester United and Arsenal?
Sutton is confident about Arsenal’s chances of not only winning at Old Trafford but handing Manchester United another heavy defeat. He has predicted a 5-1 win for the Gunners.
“Manchester United fans need to stop living in the past and pretending we are still in the Sir Alex Ferguson era,” wrote the BBC Sport pundit.
“My favourite team of the Premier League era was Ferguson’s Treble-wining side of 1999, so for everyone who thinks I dislike United, I don’t.
“They were also the best team the Premier League has ever seen but, while they were brilliant then, they are not anymore.
“Their manager Erik ten Hag is off at the end of the season, I’m convinced of that, and Arsenal should wipe the floor with them at Old Trafford.
“The only question is whether the Gunners turn up but even if they are below their best, this could end up being a cricket score.
“I’ve got to say that while I’ve been critical of Bruno Fernandes in regards to the Manchester United captaincy, they missed him badly against Palace.
“United really need Fernandes back for this game but, even if he is fit, the only way they can win is by defending in numbers and taking whatever chances they get on the counter-attack.
“They will also need Arsenal to not quite be at it but, with what is at stake, I think the opposite will apply. I am expecting the Gunners to win easily.”
Manchester United may struggle against fired-up Arsenal
Manchester United are currently low on confidence, having been hammered by Crystal Palace on Monday night, and as such, they’ll want to respond in front of their own fans.
However, Arsenal are much stronger and in much better form than the Red Devils, not to mention they’ll be fired up for the match. They won’t want their title challenge to collapse at Old Trafford of all places.
With that in mind, it’s hard to look past an Arsenal win, though I think it won’t be as one-sided as Sutton has predicted. I reckon it’ll be Man United 1-3 Arsenal.
